The Branches of the Administrative Enforcement Agency of the Ministry of Justice
(AEA) held the nationwide joint auction held on the “first” “Tuesday” of every month on
August 6th. The Paris Olympics in full swing not only made a splash globally but also
across Taiwan, of which Taiwan’s badminton men's doubles the “Lin- Yang Duo”
successfully defended the title of Olympic gold medal, making the “Olympic craze” the
most popular topic across the country, and has also pushed social cohesiveness to the new
highest level. During the auction, each Branch, with the Olympic craze, offered several
good items to escalate the enthusiasm of bidding, making the total auction amount reach
NT$45,607,666. The Branches also conducted anti-fraud and drug publicity activities
before the auction to teach the public how to resolutely reject drugs and be vigilant against
fraud!
The total bid amount of real properties reached NT$40,191,930. The auction with the
highest amount came from the 49-story office building located at Minzu 1st Road, Sanmin
District, Kaohsiung City, which was auctioned by the Kaohsiung Branch. From NT$27
million as the upset price for the first auction to NT$13.824 million for the fourth, its
upset price was almost 50% off. The building had a good location with an unparalleled
view, and could be handed over right after closing the auction, making it a must-bid item
at the auction, which was successfully auctioned for NT$14.119 million. In addition, the
Yilan Branch auctioned a 4-story, 83.28 ping house located at Zhuangwei Township, Yilan
County, owned by a B&B operator for NT$11.17 million. The owner was subject to
enforcement due to default in paying profit-seeking enterprise income tax. The item was
surrounded by fields and bald cypresses and covered with vegetation, forming a unique
area comprised of the item itself and 13 other adjacent buildings. It featured a quiet
environment and a panoramic view of the fields. Except for the first floor, which was not
handed over due to its purpose for usage by the kitchen staff, the rest building area from
the 2nd to 4th floors was handed over upon closing the auction. What unexpectedly
became the big hit of the auction of the Branches this time was a 22-ping and 2-story
house in Nuannuan District, Keelung City, which had an upset price of NT$1.8 million
with only about NT$79,000 per ping. Although the house was being rented out to others
and would not be handed over right after closing the auction, it still attracted 15 groups of
bidders to participate in the bidding, and it was finally auctioned for NT$2.96 million.
Moreover, the Hualien Branch auctioned three well-known hot spring suites in Taitung
County for more than NT$2.31 million. Other branches have also sold several high-quality
real properties.

The total amount of property auctioned reached NT$5,415,736. The most eyecatching items were the Taipei Branch’s auction of soothing figures of characters as Tanjiro and Nezuko from the well-known anime “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba”which had an upset price of NT$100 per set, as well as germanium bracelets and various
jewelry, reaching a total auction price of NT$21,000. In addition, to strengthen the fight against fraud crimes, the Ministry of Justice quickly appraises items seized during investigations and deprives fraud syndicates of their proceeds from criminal activities. Each local prosecutors’ office has successively instructed its sub-offices to auction off the criminal proceeds of syndicate members at various prices. The most eye-catching item auctioned under entrustment was a 2020 dark gray Mercedes-Benz AMG GT53 seized by the Taichung District Prosecutors’ Office. The car was auctioned at the “Dadun Justice Market” held by the Taichung Branch and aroused fierce enthusiasm among the general public. After bidding, the price increased from NT$1 million to the final auction price of
NT$3.765 million. Other properties auctioned by the other Branches include several cars and motorcycles, home appliances, communication, calligraphy works, and physical stock certificates. The joint auction is held on the “first”
